Medicare Part B pays for charges related to supplies and services to diagnose, treat and prevent medical conditions. That means diagnostic testing, preventive care like the flu shot, lab tests, wheelchairs, even regular doctor’s visits are covered under Medicare Part B. Currently, Medicare pays 80 percent of approved charges for medical expenses.
However, unlike Part A, Part B is not premium-free and most Oklahoma seniors pay a small monthly premium. In 2015, the premium for Medicare Part B was $104.90. Enrollment in Part B is automatic and premiums are deducted from your Social Security check each month. In addition, there is an annual deductible. In 2015, the annual deductible for Part B was $147.00 for most people.
