ORIGINAL COVERAGE (Traditional Medicare)

Medicare Part A – Hospital Insurance

  • Helps cover inpatient care in hospitals
  • Helps cover skilled nursing facilities, home health care and hospice care
  • Provides partial coverage of Medicare-approved costs

Medicare Part B – Medical Insurance

  • Helps cover doctors’ services, hospital outpatient care, and home health care
  • Helps cover some preventive services to maintain health and keep certain illnesses from declining
  • Helps cover some of the durable medical equipment costs
  • Typically covers 80% of the Medicare-approved costs

  • A prescription drug option offered by Medicare-approved private insurance companies
  • Helps cover the cost of prescription drugs
  • It may provide lower prescription drug costs and help to protect against rising costs in the future
  • You need to be enrolled in Part A and Part B Coverage to enroll in Part D
